Many years ago we designed and built a set for ESPN. While we were setting it up in their studio, a constant stream of people came and watched us work. Over and over they said, “This is really nice.” Small groups of 2-3 people watched all day. The the station manager and upper administration came by and they praised our work too. We were pleasantly stunned! We have always been proud of our work and we usually get compliments but this was over and beyond more compliments than ever from a highly valued source.
We stepped back, looked at our work and wondered, “What on earth do they like so much?”
We could clearly see that it was the curved back wall that everyone loved. We had made a 10 foot tall wall that was only 1″ thick.and about 24 feet long- curving slightly. We covered the wall with perforated aluminum and translucent acrylics. Light streamed through the wall. It was tall, thin and commandingly graceful. We were struck by simplicity being a key ingredient that makes our sets beautiful.
We did not realize then that we made a discovery that day that would change the direction of Gelbach Designs. We didn’t even make any decent pictures of this set. The Curve Wall Frame was born.
The Curve Wall Frame is now an essential ingredient to our sets. Small studios are transformed with 2-3 Curved Wall Frames while large studios use many Curved Wall Frames in conjunction with Flat Wall Frames of various widths. The different materials we use to cover all of our frames make it possible to have countless different looks and configurations.
We keep Curve Wall Frames, 8 feet, 9 feet and 10 feet tall, in stock. We make custom heights also. Our Strong Sets are made of Curve Wall Frames with a couple of columns. The Curve Wall Frames are light enough to be easy to carry yet strong enough to climb on. Most of our clients install the sets themselves. Most of our Wall Frames are 40 inches wide so that 3 of them can bolt together to make 10 feet across. Large sets can pack into 1 easy to ship crate.
Our Wall Frames are all created in house. They are powder coated with metallic silver paint which is as durable as car paint. We use velcro to secure different finishes to the fronts and backs of the Wall Frames.
The Curve Wall Frames can transform any space into a studio and impact the quality of your broadcast.
